Bird Is The Word 'Spirit' Challenge

Hey hey =) Hope everyone out in blog land is doing well!! Time for another challenge at Bird Is The Word, it feels like the last fortnight has only been a few days. This year seems to be going at a flying speed! So anyway, you girls know the drill, this fortnights word is 'Spirit' and this is my creation....

My 'baby' in this photo will be turning 15 on Sunday. It is kind of scary to think that in 3 years he will officially an 'adult'. I often joke with him that it is going to be a disaster when he moves out. Being my only biological child, he gets everything done for him. He has no idea how to make a bed, put a load of washing on or cook anything but noodles. Part of me kind of looks forward to those calls once he is on his own asking me how to do things and having to do the odd food run so he doesn't forget about me completely!!

So anyway, I hope you all join in with this fortnight's challenge. My store is sponsoring again this time around with a $20 voucher up for grabs!!!

Yeah I know...it's a little bit out there!!!

Hi girls, Let's see if I can I get through this post without pressing delete!! So...Just dropping by to share a layout I have done for the #170 sketch challenge at Skissedilla. I have been stalking this site for ages wanting to enter but have always chickened out as the quality of entries is phenomenal and didn't want to embarrass myself. Well I figure what the hell...so here it is..

So yeah..it's weird. You are forgiven for having a little what the ??? moment. See I actually do A LOT of mixed media layouts like this. I just don't ever share them. Various reasons I suppose...they are designed purely for me and aren't really mass consumption and secondly, most tend to be personal and I'm generally not a 'put it all out there to strangers' kinda girl. Thing is...I just love this kind of creating. It feels like 'creating'. Not just gluing down things that other people have designed. Does that make sense? And the other reason I love mixed media is you can make it cryptic. You can lay every emotion and thought completely bare on your page but you are the only one that knows exactly what that is. Like art it is not literal and is completely open to interpretation. And that is the theme of my layout. Communicating without the need for words..and yes me as the Mad Hatter representing my 'out there' side =) And for my inner cheap skate...this whole layout is just white cardstock, a few vintage book pages with stamps, mists, inks, pens and mediums!

I promise I will be back soon with something a little more regular lol.

Happy Scrapping xox

Keeping The Best Sketch Challenge

Morning girls =) Just dropping by to share a little news and a great challenge with you all. I am super excited to announce that I have been invited to join the amazing team at Keeping-The-Best!! This is a Russian challenge site that has amazing sketch challenges every fortnight with great prizes. I am so excited about the challenge of designing for an international site. Whenever I am trolling the net for inspiration I can guarantee the scrappers I am most drawn to always seem to be from either Poland or Russia. I don't know what they put in the water in these countries but these girls have to be the the most dynamic, creative and uber talented bunch of women. I am hoping some of all of the above might rub off on me =) So anyway, here is my first DT layout ( apologizes for the dark photos, the sun never surfaced all weekend here in Tassie)...

And here is the sketch.......

I hope you stop by the site and check out all the other amazing DT work and even better...play along xox

Once Upon A Sketch August Challenge

Back again with this months awesome challenge at Once Upon A Sketch. Over 100 entries again last month! How awesome is that! And with prizes for all of the top 5 featured layouts as well as a great challenge..how can you resist? So this month is all about seasons.

Ideas for journalling: current season in your part of the world, favourite season, seasonal traditions on your part of the word, a childhood memory, a summer romance, what summer/autumn/winter/spring brings for you, baby it's cold outside, summer loving, spring is in the air, autumn breeze, summer holidays, seasonal changes, etc etc. Anything goes ..

I have chosen to scrap Winter. I wouldn't say it is my favorite season but it is what I am used to. Tasmania feels like winter for at least 8 months out of every year. So I have never been able to really climatize to warmer weather ( except europe, love it!). Here it is a dry 'will burn my lily white behind in an instant' kind of heat, which means lots of sleepless nights, burning feet and just generally feeling sticky and bothered!

So here is my layout created using 7 Dots Studio Dreamer & Wonderland collections, two of my all time favorite ranges ever!

I have some hidden journalling on the tag behind my photo which just reads..."Coat, Boots, Brisk Walk...Yep It's Winter!"

And here is the sketch...

Hope you pop on over and check out all the amazing DT examples and even better if decide to join in with us!! Have a great week girls xox
